Here at Animal Health Associates, we believe that it's our people who make the difference. Our veterinary staff is carefully chosen not only for their abilities and love of animals, but also for their great rapport with our clients. Their goal is to ensure that both you and your beloved companion have an exceptional experience at our clinic.

Sheila Johnson, DVM

Dr. Sheila Johnson, Veterinarian Dr. Johnson is the owner and medical director of Animal Health Associates. She graduated with a dual degree from the OSU and WSU Colleges of Veterinary Medicine in 1998, and joined the staff at AHA immediately thereafter. She also holds a BS in business administration and an MBA. Sheila's family consists of an endless series of dogs (she has a special fondness for poodles) and cats, as well as her son Erik and husband Jim. Her professional interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, behavior, geriatics and dentistry. In her spare time she enjoys running, dog parks, reading, and watching her son's sporting events.

Judy Schroeder, DVM

Dr. Judy Schroeder, Veterinarian A native of Seattle, Dr. Schroeder graduated from Oregon State University in 1994, and has practiced small animal medicine in the Eugene area ever since. Her interests include internal medicine, feline medicine, dermatology, and ultrasound. She lives in rural Linn County with her husband Charlie, their cats Rufus and Green Bean, and their dog Rey. She enjoys hiking, reading, gardening, and dog agility training.

Amber (Veterinary Assistant)

Amber grew up on a ranch in West Eugene, where she was surrounded by cattle, horses, and show dogs. She has been a vet assistant since 2006, and joined us in 2009. Her professional interests include behavior and massage therapy; for fun she enjoys rafting, backpacking, snowboarding, volleyball, and anything that involves sports or the outdoors. When she's not enjoying your pets here, she's at home with Rosie and Fiona, her Boston Terrier and housecat.

Andrea (Veterinary Assistant)

Andrea is originally from California. After moving to Oregon to be with family, she fell into the veterinary field and never has looked back since. She started as a kennel attendant and after much training and study is now a veterinary assistant. She loves many aspects of her job, but most importantly snuggling with her patients, which at times have included birds, reptiles and ferrets! She likes to spend her spare time with her friends, family, and husband Tony.

Bill (Veterinary Assistant)

Beneath this gruff exterior lies a heart of gold. Bill is the clinic's senior veterinary assistant, with over 38 years of experience, 17 of them here at AHA. Bill's ability to calm and manage reluctant pets is legendary; he's also great with people. A former biker, ROTC lieutenant colonel, and Elks chaplain, Bill likes to watch old movies, play chess, and listen to the blues in his spare time.

Brian (Veterinary Assistant)

Brian grew up closely with animals of all kinds, and has always dreamed of working with them. He has a strong affinity for exotics, having four sugar gliders of his own, and a deep love and appreciation of wildlife. After attending veterinary technology school, he worked in a holistic veterinary practice in Minnesota before moving to Oregon. Brian is currently working toward his certification as a Veterinary Technician and plans to specialize in Zoo and Wildlife Medicine. He plans to dedicate his career to the rehabilitation and concervation of wildlife with a large focus on marine mammals.

Josh, CVT (Veterinary Technician)

Josh started out as a receptionist at AHA in 1996, and became a Certified Veterinary Technician in 1998. When he's not saving lives at AHA, he is singing and playing guitar. In addition to his wife and stepson, his family consists of two dogs, and two cats.

Jon (Receptionist)

Jon is a Eugene native, recently back from a long adventure in Arizona. Jon started in the veterinary field as a receptionist in 2003 and has never looked back. In that time, he has worked as a receptionist, front office manager, database conversion specialist, and software trainer. When not at work Jon enjoys reading, snuggling with his beautiful tortoiseshell cat Evenrude, and finding new gastronomic delights.

Cassidy, CVT (Veterinary Technician)

Cassidy has been in the field for 10 years now. Her professional interests include dentistry, dietary nutrition, and post-op patient care. She has an affinity for golden retrievers, and their many quirks. When she is not at Animal Health Associates, she and her husband are busy being parents to their son, Hayden. She also enjoys gardening, movies and walks by the river with her golden retriever. Cassidy also has three lovable housecats.

Nicole (Receptionist)

Nicole is an Oregon native, who has always had a love for animals. After working as a veterinary assistant for about two years, she came to realize that while she really loved working with animals, she also loved working in the front office. Nicole started with us in October 2012 and is looking forward to a long relationship with our clients and patients. Nicole lives in Eugene with her husband Mike and their two dogs and two cats. During her free time, she enjoys being with family and friends, watching movies, photography, camping and riding four wheelers.

Chelsie (Receptionist)

Chelsie is originally from Minnesota, where the nearest town had a population of 700. She grew up on a farm with many animals. The U of O brought Chelsie and her husband, Levi, to Oregon where they became instant Duck fans! Chelsie is finishing her Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, while her husband finishes his Ph.D. She and her husband live in Eugene with their feline children, Ollie and Sophie. During her free time Chelsie loves to read, practice digital photography and plan new excursions to explore the Oregon landscapes.

Jim Johnson (Practice Manager)

Jim joined the AHA staff in May of 2007, when his wife Sheila purchased the clinic. Jim's background in software development has been invaluable in updating and maintaining the clinic's computer system and website, as well as in the day-to-day activities of running the clinic. Jim enjoys hiking, camping, reading, movies, and playing his synthesizers.
